Definition: Necrotizing granulomatous inflammation of the airway walls and surrounding lung tissue. It is a distinctive form of granulomatous inflammation that surrounds and replaces bronchial walls and mucosa.

- association with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis

  • dilated airways with mucous impaction
  • dilated airways with mucopurulent debris containing numerous eosinophils

  • allergic bronchopulmonary fungal disease (ABFD)
    • allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABA)

  • parasitic bronchial infections

- pulmonary rheumatoid arthritis
- pulmonary ankylosing spondylitis
- pulmonary Wegener granulomatosis

- beyond and obstructing bronchial carcinoma (sustained non-allergic inflammation)
