  • white pulp depletion
  • splenic reactive follicular hyperplasia

- anomalies of red pulp

  • red pulp hemosiderin deposition
  • red pulp cellular infiltration
    • sinusal cellular infiltration
    • cord cellular infiltration
      • cord plasmocytic infiltration
      • cord lymphoplasmocytic infiltration
      • cord myeloblastic infiltration
      • cord myelomonocytic infiltration
  • splenic congestion in cords and sinuses (congestion of red pulp)
  • red pulp extramedullary hematopoiesis
  • red pulp erythrophagocytosis with neutrophils
  • red pulp erythrophagocytosis with neutrophils
  • empty appearance of sinuses (actually contain ghost red blood cells)
  • prominent endothelial sinus lining
  • red pulp hemosiderin deposition
  • red pulp erythrophagocytosis
  • expansion of red pulp
  • immunoblastic proliferation in red pulp
  • red pulp immunoblasts with atypical morphology, resembling Reed-Sternberg cells
  • immunoblastic infiltration of subintima of intratrabecular veins

- global anomalies

  • splenic spindle cell proliferation
  • splenic perivascular hyalinization
  • splenic hemosiderin deposition
  • splenic inferct / splenic infarction
  • splenic fibrosis

- splenic deposition of pink amorphous material

  • deposition of pink amorphous material limited either to germinal follicles (sago spleen)
  • deposition of pink amorphous material along splenic sinusoids
  • deposition of pink amorphous material in surrounding connective tissue (lardaceous spleen)

- splenic deposition of amyloid (amyloidosis)

  • deposition of amyloid limited either to germinal follicles (sago spleen)
