Monday 11 April 2022

Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a long-term skin disorder. Symptoms include red, scaly, greasy, itchy, and inflamed skin.

- Acute, subacute or chronic spongiotic dermatitis
- acute lesions

- subacute lesions:

  • psoriasiform hyperplasia, initially slight
  • mild spongiosis
  • other changes already mentioned
  • numerous yeast-like organisms can usually be found in the surface keratin

- Chronic lesions :

  • more pronounced psoriasiform hyperplasia and minimal spongiosis;
  • sometimes the differentiation from psoriasis can be difficult.
  • the presence of scale crusts in a folliculocentric distribution favors seborrheic dermatitis.
