Etiology

- ovarian tuberculosis in genital tuberculosis (hematogenous spread)
- ovarian actinomycosis (actinomyces)
- ovarian schistosomiasis
- ovarian Enterobius vermicularis infection
- ovarian Crohn disease (extension from bowel)
- ovarian foreign body reaction

  • materials (talc, keratin from ruptured teratoma)
  • post-surgical ovarian foreign body reaction
    • microfibrillar collagen hemostat (Avitene) used to control bleeding

- xanthogranulomatous oophoritis (ovarian xanthogranulomatous inflammation)
- ovarian sarcoidosis
