prostate xanthoma

- Usually an incidental finding in older men.
- Clusters of lipid-laden macrophages are seen.
- Differentiation from ‘hypernephroid” pattern of prostate cancer may be difficult.
- Xanthoma usually has inflammation nearby.
- The cells in question are negative for PSA and PAP and strongly stain for CD68.
