Definition: Atrophic gastritis in the setting of Helicobacter pylori infection.

Synopsis

- loss of pit, mucous neck, and glandular areas of the mucosa
- mononuclear and neutrophilic cell infiltrate.
- lymphocytic aggregate at the base of the mucosa
- area of glandular destruction showing epithelial dropout.
