Etiology

- Lichen nitidus - "ball in claw" lymphohistiocytic infiltrate with giant cells surrounded by epidermal collarettes

Synopsis

Lichen nitidus

- Focal hyperkeratosis
- Focal vacuolar change
- Discrete lichenoid lymphohistiocytic infiltrate expanding 1-4 dermal papillae
- “Ball and claw” appearance
- May have giant cells
- May be perifollicular
