acral myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma, inflammatory myxohyaline tumour; MIFS
Definition: Acral myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma is a rare tumor of the distal extremities. It is a rare, low-grade sarcoma characterized by distinctive, large, and bizarre Reed—Sternberg—like cells associated with an intense inflammatory infiltrate. The biology of MIFS is still poorly understood.

ALK-associated inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor
3 September 2004ALK-rearranged inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor; ALK+ IMF
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour has been allocated to the intermediate (rarely metastasizing) category.
They are regarded as neoplasms which, in children, are quite often characterized by ALK-1 gene rearrangements, and which may recur or metastasize in as many as 5% of cases. Unfortunately, aggressive behaviour cannot always be predicted on morphological grounds.

myxofibrosarcoma
11 October 2005Definition: Myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) is one of the most common soft tissue sarcomas of elderly patients and has a predilection for the limbs.
Myxofibrosarcoma is the most common sarcoma of elderly patients is treated by complete surgical excision with negative margins.
Frequently elderly, extremities & superficial; progression from low-to-higher grade.

Definition: Angiomyofibroblastoma shows a predilection for the vulvovaginal region during the reproductive years but which may also occur in the inguinoscrotal region in me.
Angiomyofibroblastoma is distinguished from aggressive angiomyxoma by its circumscription, greater cellularity, greater vascularity and virtual absence of recurrent potential.

Definition: Solitary fibrous tumor is a spindle cell tumor first described in the pleura, but also found in multiple extrathoracic sites including the meninges, orbit, nasal and paranasal sinuses. Solitary fibrous tumor represents a spectrum of mesenchymal tumors, encompassing tumors previously termed hemangiopericytoma, which are classified as having intermediate biological potential (rarely metastasizing) in the 2002 World Health (...) -

malignant mesenchymoma
27 April 2009Malignant mesenchymoma has now virtually fallen into disuse, since the majority of sarcomas showing two or more lines of differentiation would nowadays be recognized, in most cases, as examples of tumours such as dedifferentiated liposarcoma or malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour with heterologous elements.
There do exist exceedingly rare sarcomas showing two lines of differentiation which would not fit into the above categories, but these do not seem to form a clearly definable or (...) -
mammary-type myofibroblastoma
27 April 2009Mammary-type myofibroblastoma, although first described in the breast, is now recognized to occur at a wider variety of extramammary locations, most often the inguinal region.
It shares cytogenetic similarities with spindle cell lipoma, to which it is probably closely related.
