Definition : A small (1 or 2 cm) portion passing through the external urethral sphincter. This is the narrowest part of the urethra. It is located in the deep perineal pouch.
The membranous urethra or intermediate part of male urethra is the shortest, least dilatable, and, with the exception of the urinary meatus, the narrowest part of the urethra.

Synopsis
Mostly in adult men
Usually asymptomatic but may cause hematuria
Cystoscopically, the lesions appear as discrete small papillary growths that may be solitary or extensive, producing a velvety coating on the mucosa
Microscopy
Papillary fronds contain a thin fibrovascular core and are covered by normal prostatic acinar epithelium
Occasionally, foci of residual urothelium can be seen

Definition: The urinary meatus, also known as the external urethral orifice, is the opening or meatus of the urethra. It is the point where urine exits the urethra in males and in females, and also where semen exits the urethra in males.
The meatus has varying degrees of sensitivity to touch. The meatus is located on the glans penis in males and in the vulval vestibule in females.

It is divided into halves by sharp 35 degree angle midway, at site of veru montanum. -

Definition: In anatomy, the urethra is a tube that connects the urinary bladder to the urinary meatus for the removal of urine from the body.
In males, the urethra travels through the penis and also carries semen.
In human females (and in other primates), the urethra connects to the urinary meatus above the vagina.
